10-4-2006 Oil Pan Installation:

Pros- Installing a hybrid oil pan addds an additional inch of ground clearance, changes location of the oil drain hole and is likely stronger than the alunimum pan.
Con- The New oil pan does require a bit of modifying to place in the car. I had to take a hacksaw and cut a small corner of a screw post on the AC compressor off. Not doing this the oil pan screw holes will not line up as the compressor protrudes and causes slightly interfere with the placement of the oil pan. I did not want to compromise the integrity of the oil pan by filing it down. Very easy fix took less than a quarter inch off compressor's the post off. Not a structural modification at all.

Required parts:
1. Oil Pan http://www.worldimpex.com/item_detail.html?sku=229499 (Currently $64)i
2. Sealant for the Oil Pan:*

3. 10mm socket with extension
4. Metalnerd Wobbly bit. I ONLY needed this for one bolt which based on my angle I could not get out with a 10mm socket or flex-joint adapter. I think you can get a flex-joint 10mm socket which might work.

5. 5w40 synthetic oil (I use Rottella T), Oil Filter
6. File or metal saw. I used a coping saw with a metal blade.
7.Security torx (to remove belly pan)
8. Ramps or jack stands.
9. drain pan if any oil is left.,
10. large flat edge screw driver (use as pry tool)
11. There are 3 or 4 bolts which also hold the oil pan in these use a 19mm bolt as I recall.
-----------------------------------
1.Since the cracks in my oil pan were pretty minimal and I had not lost much oil. I drove the car around to hear up the oil to make it easier to drain. Then I drained the oil normally.
2. Remove the filter so excess oil will also come out.
3. Remove all bolts bolting oil pan in. there are a few hidden ones by the AC compressor as well as by the driveshaft(?).
4. There are two indentations where you can twist a large flat edge screw driver sideways and free the oil pan. The pan will be stuck on with the remaining sealer (it took me some time to figure this out)
5. Scrape all sealent off the bottom of the car.
6. I replaced the oil receiver on the bottom of the motor as they provide a new one with the new pan.
7. DRY FIT the oil pan. you will see if you bought the new type pan that the holes do not line up as the right hand side of the pan hits the AC compressor. I considered filing the side of the pan. Don't do this. You can cut some excess off the mounting point for the AC compressor. It does not appear to be structural. Dry fit again to make sure all works.
8. Use the sealant tube to place sealant on the pan mounting points. Go all the way around making sure that you got all the places which abut the car.
9. Place the pan back up on car. and start loosely tightening bolts. I did not place the 3 larger bolts 19mm(?) in until the end as it made it difficult to line up the pan

*I bought the non OEM sealant offered by IMPEX.
